Hey, Chick Partial Die Cutting

Hi there, Stampin' Friends!  I've been wanting to try this technique for longer than I can remember.  This is my first go at it.  I will be using this technique again.  It allows you to have a portion of your stamped image outside of your die cut.  There are several videos on YouTube if you search 'partial die cutting'.

I stamped the chick with Archival Black ink onto water color paper, colored with reinkers and water color pencils, and then die cut it with the Stitched Shapes framelits using the partial die cutting technique. Using my paper snips, I cut down the sides of the chick's neck so I could slip the Christmas wreath over her head.  I cut the scalloped circle with the Layering Circle framelits and attached to the top layer.

Dimension was added to the scallop circle using dimensionals, to the wreath with rolled glue dots, and to the bow using the bone folder to curl the bow and tails.

J is for Jesus

Hi there, Stampin' Friends!  When the holiday catalog came out and I spotted the candy cane stamp in the set Banners for Christmas, I saw something totally different... a "J".  So came to life this Christmas card:

I paired the stamp up with the stamp from Reason for the Season to get this:

Here is a photo of both the outside and the inside.

I embossed the white card stock with a non-SU embossing folder, stamped the "J" with versa mark, sprinkled with heat and stick powder, warmed that up with the heat tool to melt it, then sprinkled it with the Real Red glitter and warmed it again to set it.  I used my embossing buddy to prevent glitter from getting in places I didn't want it.  The humidity must be rather high in my home because I still ended up having to use a paint brush to brush the stray glitter off my card...but in the end, it was worth every step.  I am pleased with how this card turned out and for me, it truly represents the true meaning of Christmas.

Sometimes in the middle of all the tasks of making Christmas 'perfect' I need to step back, regroup, and remember what truly makes Christmas perfect.  It's not the presents, it's the Presence.

Sheltering Tree Christmas

Hi there, Stampin' Friends! Today's card uses a masking technique, sponging, and the stamp set Sheltering Tree from Stampin' Up!  I have created a beautiful winter scene for this Christmas card.

It is sprayed with the retired Frost White shimmer mist and it truly gorgeous in person. This would be an easy card to mass produce.

Cable Knit Gift Card Holder

Hi there, Stampin' Friends! Gift Cards can make the perfect gift. They eliminate the need for returns since they are never the wrong color or the wrong size. Today I will share how to create a beautiful gift card holder using the Gift Card Envelopes & Trims Thinlits and the Cable Knit Dynamic Textured Impressions Embossing Folder.  I love the 3D effect this embossing folder creates.

Here is the gift card holder ready to give.  It could either be hung on the Christmas tree or slipped in an envelope to hand deliver or mail.

Here is a view with the insert.  I have created a little pocket on the back to slip a gift card (or cash) into.

These can easily be made masculine or for any occasion by changing the color of card stock, greeting and embellishments.

Glitter and Gold and Pearls!

Hi there, Stampin' Friends.  Today's card is full of sparkle and no matter how hard I try, I can't capture the true beauty with my camera!  I shared a few days ago how much fun I was having with the heat and stick powder and glitter.  My stampin' area is a bit sparkly but this card is a LOT sparkly and I just love it!

I used one of my all time favorite stamps, Post Card. (my little heart almost broke when Stampin' Up! put it on the retiring list.  However, it will continue to hold it's own special place in my stamp collection!)  I inked the stamp up with versa mark, stamped it onto Very Vanilla card stock, covered it with heat and stick powder, melted the powder with my heat tool and then covered it with gold glitter and heated it just a bit more to set the glitter.

The flower was created by punching the petals (Very Vanilla) and leaves (Always Artichoke) with the Festive Flower Builder Punch. I used the faux suede technique on each petal and leaf.  I spritzed them with a mixture of alcohol and gold metallic ink.  Once they were dry, I shaped each petal and used my finger to add more of the gold metallic paint undiluted.  Stacked all the layers to create a flower and added gold thread to the back before adding it to the card front.  I then added pearls to the center.

I love the vintage  appearance of this card.  The glitter really makes a huge statement!  My neighbor lady, who is also a pretty special friend, fell in love with this card.  She's hoping it's the Christmas card I give her this year! : )

Every Blessing Flip Card

Hi there, Stampin' Friends!  I have another 'flip card' to share with you. I really like this layout.  I haven't felt the need to add any extra embellishments, therefore, I don't need to add extra postage either!

I used only Very Vanilla card stock and gold embossing powder. It makes for an easy but stunning card.

Poinsettia Gift Card Holder

Hi there, Stampin' Friends!  Here is the second make n take project for October. Gift cards are the popular gift in this day and age. The Gift Card Envelope & Trims thinlits make it quick and easy to create a beautiful way to conceal your gift card.  There are several ways to 'seal' your gift card holder.  For this particular one, we created a 'coin envelope' type closure.  You can, however, use a belly band, ribbon, velcro, or glue dots.

The die requires a 6" x 6" piece of card stock.  We used the Kraft Cardstock which comes in  12" x 12" sheets.  You can also use 8 1/2 x 11" card stock but you have a lot of 'waste'.  I am guessing designer paper would work also.  I have not tried it though...yet.

Your gift card can be attached to back of the insert with glue dots or you can just stick the gift card in the envelope along with the insert.

Hi there Stampin' Friends!  In October I posted this entry. I entered my card in a contest Stampin' Up! was having for World Card Making Day.  I honestly didn't think I had even entered it correctly.  I didn't see it on their Pinterest. Nor did I get any sort of conformation email.  I really enjoyed making the card and the results were pleasing to me so I was happy.

Last evening I received a phone call from my upline, Ms. Lori.  When I answered the phone, I was greeted by a very excited, "YOU WON!".  Confused by her joy and comment, I said, "I won what?"  Well, the results are in.....Stampin' Up! received over 3,000 entries for the World Card Making Day Contest. They chose 100 winners from the United States/Canada entries and mine was one of the winners! I am not bragging, just sharing my joy!  I am thrilled beyond words and give all the glory to my Creator.  I could never do it without Him!

Triple Time Soiree

Hi there, Stampin' Friends.  This card was created using the very talented, Dawn Olchefske's technique and video.  Triple Time Stamping is a popular and fun technique with my stampers. A monochromatic theme using only Crumb Cake card stock sets the stage for a 'rustic' Christmas card. The stamped layers are sponged with Baked Brown Sugar ink.  In an effort to keep the embellishments and dimension to a minimum to create a card that is 'mailable' without having to add extra postage, a single rhinestone fits the need for a little bling.

Six-Sided Tree

I always admire the creative punch art cards.  I think to myself, "How do they see those creations in a punch"?  It never ceases to amaze me what some people can create with punches...lions, and tigers, and bears, and Disney characters...you get the idea....you've seen them too.  My vision doesn't seem to stretch that far.  Making a tree out of hexagon punch is stretching it!  But it felt good when it was all down on card stock!   So here it is...my six-sided tree...

Are you counting the sides?  Well the six sides come from the stamp set Six-Sided Sampler and the Hexagon Punch.  When you purchase them as a bundle, you save 15%!    I think this would also make a great masculine Christmas card.  There is a lot of texture and dimension created with embossing folders, stamping, sponging, and paper shaping the star.  A fun card without the bling.

World Card Making Day

A whole day set aside for Card Making!!! It took me most the day to get this card to come together.  I'd work a little, ponder a little, work a little more...one of those days.
I wanted to use one of my favorite stamp sets...Postcard and I also wanted to incorporate my wish for this beautiful world that was created for us to enjoy.  This is what I came up with:

Peace on Earth

Hi there, Stampin' Friends! Oh, what fun I had creating this one!! This card was inspired by Claudia Manderla.  She posted a photo on Stampin' Connection (A Stampin' Up! Demo only site...one of the many benefits of being a demonstrator) and I thought it was adorable. You may view her blog here.  Her Aug. 6th post entitled "Shabby Chic" was the beginning of my card.  I changed up the stamp sets, size of my pages, color combo and embellishments and came up with this....

No matter how hard I tried, I couldn't capture the dimension in this card. It is so different in real life.  Here are a few close ups...

 The 'globe ornament' is rounded: attached only along the outer edge with Tombow liquid glue and a dimensional in the middle of the ornament.

The pages are stamped, distressed, sponged, and connected in the middle with linen thread and they open up on both sides.

And last but not least here is a photo of the inside all decorated up too!  The Postage Stamp was created using the stamp a ma jig and the stamp "Sharing with you the Glory, Wonder, and Miracle of this Holy Season" and the Midnight Muse marker.
