Happy 100th Birthday

Hi there, Stampin' Friends! A dear friend of mine asked me to make a 100th Birthday card for a dear friend of hers.  The 'requirements' were: roses....red roses, Happy 100th Birthday, and some type of blessing. If I could incorporate the recipient's name it it, it would make it even more special.  She fell in love with this easel card I had made and she said it would be nice to have something similar to that.  I asked if she would like to have a box to put the card in and she thought that would be fantastic!

So I had a starting point.  I knew I wanted it elegant and sparkly.  This is what I created.....

I was pleased with how the card turned out and I had met most of the requirements:  red roses, Happy 100th Birthday, a Blessing, an easel card....now I just had to figure out a box and how to get Ms. RoxaBelle's name on it.  I don't have any cursive stamps and I knew I wouldn't be able to get the look I was going for with a computer generated name.  I enlisted the help of friends!

For the box I had recently seen a video on Stampin Connection (our demo only site) and knew it would be perfect for this card!  Linda Parker made this awesome  Envelope Punchboard box video!  Thank you, Linda!  I created the box in no time and was ready for the embellishments....the name and a cluster of roses....the name....how to get that on the box...and then a light shown...I have a precious Sister in Christ who has a silhouette machine!  Off I went to her home with my glitter paper!  We sat down and prayed together over the project and the beloved celebrating her 100th Birthday. We went through pages and pages and pages of fonts until we found one we liked and one that would work.  She did her thing on the computer and in no time had a beautiful name embellishment cut out for the special box!  I couldn't have done it without her and I am grateful!  It was absolutely perfect! Thank You, Sister Sharri!!

Here is the gorgeous box!  I added an elegant touch by tying the box shut with Very Vanilla satin ribbon under the cluster of roses and RoxaBelle's name.  Unfortunately, I didn't get a photo of that.   It finished it of beautifully though!!

My dear friend was overwhelmed, to say the least, when I showed the box/card to her.  It was 'above and beyond anything she expected' as she put it.  My heart was soaring with Joy to be a part of something so special. What a blessing it is to be serve others with paper, stamps, and ink!

Billboard Message from God

Hi there, Stampin' Friends! Some might call what I experienced an "Ah-ha" moment but I call it a Holy Spirit inspired moment!  I've been doing a fair amount of water-coloring with the set Helping Me Grow.  I was going through stamps looking for saying or sentiment or greeting...some were way too big, some just didn't seem right, some were too small....and then it flooded me...two that were perfect!  I can't take the credit for it at all....the Glory goes to God, as it always should!

One of my favorite Scriptures is Psalm 139.  I am reassured in vs. 4 that I am fearfully and wonderfully created...and so are you!  I truly hope you will take some time today to ponder on that, be thankful, praise God for His marvelous works, and believe it!

Distressed Meadow

Hi there, Stampin' Friends!  Today I have another Morning Meadow card to share with you.  I have distressed it for a 'vintage' feel.  

               Butterflies, birds, and flowers....God's beautiful creations spoken into existence!  They are also a few of my favorite things!

Vintage Circle Card w/bookmark

Happy New Year, Stampin' Friends! (A little late, I know.  I have been having computer issues for some time and hopefully I have everything back in working order) The Circle Card thinlits are easy and fun to use.  I finally got a chance to pull mine out and use it. I have created a Vintage card inspired by Christine Giuda on Stampin' Connection.  Her card is so lovely.  I knew I wanted to recreate in my own creative way.  She used designer paper on her card.  I made my own designer paper. I was also inspired by Dawn O's video for adding an extra extension using your Circle Card and Label Card thinlits.

Here is what I have created:

Here is the front when the card is completely closed. I made the Crisp Cantaloupe 'designer paper using several different stamp sets and crisp cantaloupe, baked brown sugar, and white craft ink.  All the edges are distressed and inked with Soft Suede. The vanilla seam binding is dyed with Crisp Cantaloupe reinker and Shimmer Mist (rubbing alcohol and champagne shimmer paint: retired), scrunched and left to air dry.

The card opened:

 The bookmark was made using a non-Stampin' Up! stamp given to me by a friend.  It is Isaiah 40:31 Scripture.

Adding the extension gives you a place to write a message. It also adds more area to be creative!  Inspiration comes from so many different places.  I am grateful to all the crafters who graciously share their ideas: videos, tips, techniques, and projects!  I hope you are inspired also!

Swallowtail Gift Set

Hi there, Stampin' Friends! My last post showed the beautiful Swallowtail card I received from my sweet friend, Donna. She was inspired by this video and so was I! (Thank you Brandy Cox!)  I created a 'set' of Swallowtail cards using the same technique.  I omitted the extra layer at the bottom.  Whether you color this beauty or not, it is stunning!  Just about any sentiment fits with the stamp.  I have used several different sentiments from stamp sets both retired and current.

Chicken Wire Pennant Frame

Hi there, Stampin' Friends!  I've been admiring all the frames made with chicken wire.  It has been on my list of things to try for some time now. My nephew's wedding was the perfect event to motivate me to put my plans into action.

The frame was in my collection of things to alter.  I removed the picture and glass and stapled the wire to the back of the frame. I cut stripes of cork and hot glued them over the staples and sharp edges of the wire to protect not only the wall but also fingers! I painted the little clothes pins with acrylic paint.  The banner was made using the Perfect Pennants die, Timeless Type Alphabet Junior sizzlits (retired) and some retired Stampin' Up! twine. I added pictures of the happy couple and tags made using the retired extra large tag punch and the stamp set, Trust God. ("God Bless You",  "Thank God for what you have. Trust God for what you need.", "God is Love",  "Live Simply, Love Generously, Care Deeply, Speak Kindly, Leave the rest to God",  "Trust in the Lord with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding".) I made the hanger out of some thick ribbon I had tucked away.  I left it extra long so they could decide how long they would like the hanger and can adjust it to their liking.

In Memory of Victoria

Yesterday Stampin' Up! lost a demo and I lost a precious friend. Victoria's favorite color was orange.  It is only fitting that I created a sympathy card for her husband and family using orange.  I will miss her deeply as will those who knew her as "Ethel", Mom, "Nana", sister, aunt, and friend.  She loved the 3D challenges and was always trying to teach me to make a box or bag of some sort.  This is my idea of 3D....and a loving tribute to someone who came into my life unexpected, shared a piece of my heart,  left unexpectedly, and still holds a piece of my heart...."Love you, Ethel!  Luc"

Cherish today....and those you love.

Flower Garden Watercolored

Grab your aqua painter and ink reinkers and create!  I embossed the Flower Garden embossing folder on Watercolor paper and then using my reinkers in Calypso Coral, Poppy Parade, and Old Olive painted away.  The Spritzer tool adds just a touch of dimension without being overpowering the main image.  To add a little sparkle, I misted with Champagne Shimmer Mist (champagne shimmer paint and alcohol mixture in a spritzer bottle).
