Embossed Rose

Hi there, Stampin' Friends!  I dusted off my Stippled Blossom stamp set and inked it up.  This is a 2 Step Stampin' set.  The Stamp a ma jig is a must for me when I do this type of stamping.  Of course, the Stamp a ma jig is a tool I use on just about every card I make. It keeps images and words perfectly aligned and occasionally perfectly crooked or perfectly upside down on those days when I'm not paying close enough attention to what I am doing.

I stamped the rose and bud image onto watercolor paper, using my aqua painter to blend the color.  When the images were dry, I cut them out, glued them onto the stems, and ran them through the Big Shot with the Lattice embossing folder.

The saying at the bottom is from Blessings from Heaven.  I used the retired ticket punch on the corners.  The images are mounted on Black card stock.

Painted Poppies

Hi there, Stampin' Friends!  I feel in love with a painted poppies creation made by Lydia Fiedler.  I knew I wanted to give it a try.  I used acrylic paint and Stampin' Up! reinkers to do this technique.

I started with a piece of watercolor paper and painted it with Gesso.  I heat dryed it just to speed up the process.  Next I inked up the Pleasant Poppies stamp with black Stazon and stamped it onto the watercolor paper.  I mixed white acrylic paint and a few drops of  Island Indigo reinker to paint the background.  Once the background was all painted and dried, I made more 'reinker paint' with Tangerine Tango (poppies), Always Artichoke (stems and buds), and Early Espresso (center of the poppies).  I am happy with the way it turned out.

 I used the retired ticket corner punch and mounted the painted image on black card stock before mounting it with foam mounting tape to the black card base.  The verse is embossed with white embossing powder.  The acrylic paint was a fun medium to incorporate with my stamping.

The lines from the Stazon lines from the stamped image show faintly through the painted areas.  The texture of this card is truly like a painting.  However, it is difficult to capture with my camera.

Faux Silk Tulips

Hi there, Stampin' Friends!  If you are looking for a fun technique to add to your stamping, then you need to give the faux silk technique a try.  It has been around for a long time. However, I forget to how much I enjoy it and what a beautiful effect it produces.  Here is one of the cards I have created using this technique:

 

I have used an aqua painter to color in my tulips and Soft Suede to sponge around the image and give it dimension.

Blessed by being a Blessing

I picked up the mail today expecting to find the same old things....bills, ads, newspaper...and hopefully my copies of the new Stampin' Up! Spring and Saleabration catalogs. (The new catalogs weren't in the mailbox...maybe tomorrow)   However, I had a much greater surprise awaiting me....a card from my precious sister!!!

With the world the way it is today so much communication is done through texting, emails, Facebook, etc. The 'old fashioned ways' like sending a card, sending a handwritten letter, or picking up the phone and talking have gone by the wayside much of the time unfortunately.  I would encourage you to take a moment and break that vicious cycle... take the time to send someone a card, a letter, or make a phone call.  Trust me...my day was incredibly blessed by my sister's thoughtfulness.  "Thank you, M, for taking the time to bless me and my day in such a special unexpected way.  You're my 'bestest' sister and friend!  I love you!!"
