Hot Glue Embossing

Hi there, Stampin' Friends! I was strolling through Pinterest a couple of days ago and a technique that I had never seen caught my eye.  It looked interesting so I thought I would check it out.  I ended up here.  I found a written tutorial along with a video. If you scroll down, you can also find a gallery link set aside for this technique.  I added this idea to my 'to try someday list'.  A day later, I was blog surfing and ran across Stephanie's creations!  Needless to say, the technique moved to the top of my list...as in I have to try this right now!  Thanks Stephanie for your inspiration and motivation!

First let me say this is so not me!  However, there is a freedom in trying something different and accepting it just as it is...creativity. Plain, simple, and different every single time! I used watercolor paper, put my hot glue down, pulled my paper piercer through the glue (only on the first card. The other three are left just how the glue came out of the glue gun), and let it set up. Secondly I got so excited that I forgot to emboss the glue before I laid down my watercolor.  It all turned out in the end and I actually like adding the color before the embossing powder.  A happy mistake!

While I had all the supplies out and the glue gun was hot, I created 4 panels.  Here are the end results:

Reinker colors: Daffodil Delight, Tangerine Tango, Garden Green, Pacific Point, Elegant Eggplant
The inside reads: So He made you.

I used the remainder of the reinker from the list above that I had left over on this one. It created a completely different look.

Elegant Eggplant was used on this one.

Here is Basic Gray, Basic Black, and Real Red reinkers.

I added a slightly smaller panel of Thick Whisper White card stock behind each of the main images to give it is stability because the water color warps the paper slightly. I went around the edge of each art piece with Versa Mark and heat embossed with gold embossing powder. The first 3 also have a 'frame' created with the Versa Mark and Gold embossing powder.

I have 4 more panels drying right now.  I will be sharing them when they are completed. I'm so glad I tried this technique.  It really is freeing!
